One of the most popular tourist destinations in Phoenix, South Mountain Regional Park gives visitors a good taste of the local desert. After a winding road to the top, visitors are atop the entire valley, with views in every direction. Every day is a crowded one, which is why I prefer sticking to the Western side of the overlook, especially at sunset. The setting sun falls over multiple ridges and provides great desert photo opportunities only mere minutes from downtown.
