Yup, that's snow! At almost 14,000 feet, Mauna Kea has snow almost year round on it's summit. It takes a lengthly and rough drive, but is a public place and accessible via vehicle. This sunset might have been my favorite one from the whole trip, who would've thought I'd be standing in snow for a sunset in Hawaii.
